Occupancy and Board Contract

When students commit to living on campus, they sign the Occupancy and Board contract which entitles them to certain privileges and restrictions within the residence halls. These are outlined in the Terms and Conditions of the Occupancy and Board Contract. The policies are to be viewed as supporting, complimenting, and in addition to those policies listed in the Bryant Student Handbook.

The Bryant Student Handbook

The Student Handbook outlines the policies and procedures of the University. The Terms and Conditions of the Occupancy and Board Contract are published in their entirety within the handbook, as well as additional Residential Life policies and information, and the Student Code of Conduct which outlines the policies, procedures, rights and responsibilities of all Bryant students.

Community Standards Appeal Form

Reported students who have been found in violation by the Office of Community Standards and Service or the Office of Residential Life may appeal the decision. Students who wish to appeal must do so in writing utilizing the form below. The appeal letter must clearly state the grounds and rationale for the appeal and be received before the date indicated in the written notification of the hearing decision (typically students will have five business days to file an appeal). Students found in violation may appeal on the following grounds:

Procedural Error - The departure from designated procedures resulted in significant prejudice, thereby adversely affecting the outcome of the hearing.

New Information - Information or relevant facts that would have altered the decision were not presented in the original hearing because such information or facts were not known and were not reasonably available to the person appealing the decision at the time of the original hearing.

Excessive or Inappropriate Sanction - The sanction imposed is either excessive or not appropriate for the violation.

Student Information Release Authorization (FERPA)

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 is a Federal law that states: (A) a written institutional policy must be established and (B) that a statement of adopted procedures covering the privacy rights of students be made available. The law provides that the institution will maintain the confidentiality of student education records. Bryant University accords all the rights under the law to its students. No one outside the institution shall have access to nor will the institution disclose any information from the students’ education records without the written consent of students, except for specific cases (please see Student Handbook for more information).

The form linked below allows students to authorize a parent(s)/and or guardian(s) or any individual(s) access to their student conduct record via The Office of Community Standards and Service.

Health and Safety

The health and safety of our residential students is of great importance to the Bryant community, as well as complying with Rhode Island Fire Codes. With this in mind, we conduct room inspections, enforce fire, health & safety regulations as well as prohibit certain items from our residential spaces, all in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Occupancy and Board Contract and the Bryant Student Handbook.

Community Service

Community service is an important component of the Bryant experience as we strive to foster a culture of service that extends beyond our campus and into the broader community. As an integral part of Bryant’s vibrant student life, we believe in the power of service to build empathy, enhance diverse educational experiences, develop leadership skills, and positively impact the world. We offer opportunities for all students to participate in service-based community engagement both on and off campus. Our signature programs feature campus clean-up days throughout the academic year, opportunities to volunteer in the local community, joining a service-based student organization, as well as a weeklong immersive service trip during Spring Break.
