Academic Center for Excellence (ACE), Health Services, Counseling Services, and the Department of Public Safety (DPS) all provide access services to support student success.

The Academic Center for Excellence, (ACE) in partnership with the Department of Athletics, provides tailored assistance for the unique needs of student-athletes. Students in our Division I athletic programs have challenging schedules and often need additional help finding a balance between the demands of athletics and academics. ACE provides these students support with general study skills, time management and overall organization.

Student-Athlete study hall requirements can be fulfilled using any of ACE’s services, including tutoring, the writing center, learning specialist appointments, attendance at workshops, and time spent in the student-athlete quiet study hall as well as the student-athlete goal-based study hall.

In goal-based study hall, student-athletes can work with peer tutors and writing consultants to establish goals for their studies, to get academic support in achieving these goals, and to assess and improve their study habits.

  • Taking advantage of ACE and Writing Center academic support services

  • Navigating the variety of support services available to international students on campus

  • Developing study skills for college success

  • Improving written and oral language skills

  • Setting goals for academic improvement

  • Communicating with professors and clarifying expectations and assignments

International students and English language learners who seek to improve their English writing skills may also make an appointment for a one-on-one consultation with our ESL Writing Specialist who helps with:

Applications for accommodations based on mental health conditions need to be accompanied by a letter from a licensed mental health professional that documents the diagnosis and subsequent therapy. This individual needs to have served the student within the past twelve months. For psychological/psychiatric disorders, contact the Office of Counseling Services.
