Our Mission

Since its founding in 1977 to serve a small, primarily black student population, the ICC at Bryant University has grown into a dynamic hub for international and multicultural engagement. Today, professional educators at the ICC mentor and advocate for diverse students, helping them navigate their academic journeys while promoting cross-cultural understanding across campus. They work closely with faculty and administration to foster an inclusive environment that values and celebrates global perspectives.

The ICC organizes events that honor cultural heritage months, showcasing the vibrant diversity within the Bryant community. For many students, it serves as a supportive “home away from home”—a place to connect, learn, and belong. Additionally, the ICC advises two major student organizations: the Multicultural Student Union and the International Student Organization.

The primary programs of the ICC are 4MILE@bryant (Multicultural and International Leadership Experience), International Education Week, Celebration of Heritage Months, Global Community Hour & Global Community Building, Annual PwC Center Awards Banquet/4MILE@bryant Recognition Ceremony.

Heritage & Cultural Celebrations

Throughout the academic year, the ICC celebrates heritage months and cultural observances that recognize the histories, contributions, experiences, and traditions of communities represented at Bryant.

Our celebrations include educational programs, cultural events, food experiences, social gatherings, discussions, performances, collaborations, and opportunities for students to share their own stories.

Chat & Chew

Come Hungry. Leave Connected.

College can come with a lot to figure out, and sometimes it helps to just talk about it.

Chat & Chew is a collaboration between the Intercultural Center and Counseling Services where you can grab lunch, meet other students, and have real conversations about things that actually come up in college.

Twice a month, we talk about topics like managing stress, dating and relationships, homesickness, life after graduation, navigating change, and more.

You’ll also get to meet counselors in a relaxed, casual setting. No appointment. No pressure. Just lunch, conversation, and a chance to get to know the people and resources available to support you at Bryant.

Come for the food. Stay for the conversation. Leave knowing you’re not the only one figuring it all out. Everyone is welcome.

ICC Center Space

Available to ALL MEMBERS of the BRYANT COMMUNITY.

The Intercultural Center is more than an office. It is a space to connect, create, study, eat, meet, and build community.

Located on the second floor of the Fisher Student Center, the ICC provides an inviting seating area, kitchen, and multimedia conference room.

Comfortable Seating & Community Space

Our seating area provides an informal gathering space where members of the Bryant community can meet with friends, study or work, exchange idea, have meaningful conversations, connect with other students, relax between classes, and most importantly, build community.

Community Kitchen

The ICC kitchen is available for members of the Bryant community to:

• Share a home-cooked meal
• Warm up a meal
• Cook or prepare a dish together
• Share food and traditions
• Host culturally focused food experiences

Food is more than a meal. It can be a way to share culture, tell stories, and build relationships.

Multimedia Conference Room

The ICC conference room can be used for:

• Small-group meetings
• Student organization meetings
• Teleconferencing
• Video and phone interviews
• Individual video calls home
• Virtual meetings
• Studying and academic work

Classroom Resource Connection

Textbooks & Resources, Available When You Need Them

The Classroom Resource Connection (CRC), formerly known as the Equity Library, helps make course materials more accessible to Bryant students.

Students can check out textbooks and other reading materials for the entire   
semester, giving them access to resources they need without the added financial burden of purchasing every book.

How It Works

The Bryant Textbook Access Program and the Classroom Resource Connection are two separate resources.

Students should first have access to their required course materials through the Bryant Textbook Access Program. Students must opt into the Textbook Access Program to receive access to the CRC for eligible course materials, unless the cost of the individual resource is less than the program fee.

The CRC provides an additional option for accessing textbooks and other course-related materials throughout the semester.

Can't Find What You Need? If the textbook or resource you are looking for is not available through the CRC or the Textbook Access Program, students can submit a resource request through Engaged. We will review the request and determine whether the material can be obtained.

Food Security Program

No Student Should Have to Choose Between Food and Their Education.

The ICC recognizes that access to food is an important part of student well-being, belonging, and academic success.

Through our Food Security Program, we connect students with resources and support designed to help address food insecurity and make sure students have access to food when they need it.

The program provides opportunities to:

• Access available food resources
• Connect with campus and community resources
• Learn about food security
• Participate in food-centered community programs
• Access ICC kitchen resources

Conference Grants

Take Your Learning Beyond Bryant

The Intercultural Center (ICC) provides Conference Grants to help students participate in conferences and educational experiences that support their academic, cultural, professional, and leadership development.

Whether you are looking to attend a professional conference, connect with others who share your interests, explore your identity and culture, or expand your network, Conference Grants can help make these opportunities more accessible.

What Can the Grant Cover?

Depending on the conference and available funding, a grant may cover one or more of the following:

• Conference registration
• Travel expenses
• Lodging or accommodations

Who Can Apply?

Conference Grants are available to eligible Bryant students who may not otherwise be able to afford the cost of attending a conference or educational experience.

Grants are intended to help reduce financial barriers for students who want to participate in opportunities that support their academic, cultural, professional, or leadership development.

Application Information

The Conference Grant application opens at the end of August and closes at the end of April each academic year.

Applications are available through Engaged on the PwC Center page. 

International Students

Housed within the ICC, the Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) offers specialized services to support international students in achieving their personal and academic goals. OISS provides individual advising on U.S. immigration regulations, cultural adjustment, and student success resources. While OISS is available to assist students in understanding immigration requirements, each student is ultimately responsible for maintaining their legal immigration status and complying with all applicable U.S. laws and regulations.

Other Ways to Get Involved

There are many ways to connect with the ICC, learn about different cultures, and build community throughout the year.

International Education Week

A weeklong celebration focused on exploring, celebrating, and learning about cultures from around the world. Through cultural programs, discussions, food, performances, and student-led events, International Education Week highlights the global perspectives and experiences that make the Bryant community unique.

Global Community Hour

Take a trip around the world without leaving Bryant! During Global Community Hour, students share an immersive look into their home country and culture, giving attendees the opportunity to learn about traditions, customs, history, music, food, and everyday life from a student’s personal perspective. And yes, there is often food to sample from their culture! 

4MILE

4MILE (Multicultural and International Leadership Experience) is a week-long immersive program designed to empower participants through cultural exploration and leadership development. Open to all students but focused on supporting international and domestic multicultural students, this dynamic experience helps build a strong sense of community and belonging while encouraging the exploration of new perspectives. Participants gain valuable insight into academic and personal support resources, easing their transition to campus life. Throughout the program, students form lasting connections and friendships that enrich their educational journey.

4MILE is free for all incoming Bryant international and domestic students.

4MILE Peer Counselor

4MILE Peer Counselors serve in a leadership role in assisting incoming multicultural and international students to become members of the Bryant Community. They will serve as mentors, group facilitators, and a resource. This is an opportunity that enhances personal and professional growth while having the ability to have a positive impact on the experience of incoming students.
