New Student Programs and Leadership

Fisher Student Center, 2nd Floor
401-232-6993

Students who do not live on campus have an organization geared to their interests, and a place they can meet, plan activities, and relax between classes.

The Commuter Connection helps oversee the Commuter Hub — a "home away from home" — on the second floor of the Fisher Center. The Hub provides comfortable couches, flat-screen TV, refrigerator, microwave, study areas and lockers (available by registration every semester).

The Commuter Connection sponsors events throughout the academic year to facilitate participation in campus activities and to help commuters meet other students. All events are open to the entire student body. For details, check the Commuter Connection's page here.

A 75 Block Meal Plan (75 meals) is now available for Commuters for $1,010. To purchase, log into MyBryantHousing, navigate to the Dining Tab, and follow the steps. This plan does not include Dining Dollars or Bulldog Bucks.

The National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) offers these tips to help commuters become more involved in the campus community:

  • Study on-campus after classes and on the weekends
  • Organize regular study groups
  • Include time to meet with your professors in your everyday schedule
  • Get involved in a student club or organization
  • Join an intramural sports team
  • Participate in student government
  • Eat in the dining halls
  • Make an effort to meet new people from different backgrounds
  • Make friends with people who live in the residence halls
  • Take public transportation or car pool so that you have more time to study
  • Work on campus
